OpenCities empowers councils with BYO (build-your-own) website tool

Our recent update to OpenCities packs quite a punch. With our new Site Builder, site managers can quickly, easily and without any programming skills create standalone websites for their libraries, theatres, community centres, festivals and much more.

The update also includes our new rotating banner which not only brings keyboard accessibility to an image rotator for the first time, but is perfectly suited to council sites with a more narrow focus, seeking to actively promote key events, memberships and more.

As soon as the Subsite Builder became available, Nillumbik Shire Council began work on their Artisan Hills website that highlights the creative communities and attractions in their region, along with their Nillumbik Youth site that delivers youth-oriented content and information regarding facilities and programs.

subsites-previewColac-Otway also took the opportunity to create a beautiful digital home for the Colac Performing Arts Community Centre by taking advantage of the standard OpenCities event listings and landing page listings to promote upcoming shows and venue facilities.

As an add-on to a council’s OpenCities subscription, the Site Builder delivers tremendous value by empowering council website managers to create new sites in-house, at a fraction of the cost and time of a typical web development project.

After a brief training session, City of Devonport embarked on building a new website for their urban renewal project Living City. By the very next day, they were able to design, populate and launch their new website.

Since then Devonport have also built the beautiful Devonport Jazz website for their upcoming music festival featuring a full event program, artist profiles and multimedia image galleries.

All sites setup via the Site Builder also benefit from any applicable new features or updates released for Councils main OpenCities site, so you don’t need to worry about separate maintenance for your additional sites.

We’ve created the site builder to give you the fastest, most cost-effective solution for creating new sites for your business units.

The Site Builder is available to OpenCities councils as a Premium module. To discuss or activate the Site Builder please email contact@opencities.com.au or call us on (03) 9913 0020.
